Domain intelligence

Academic, legal, marketing, pastoral, medical, technical. Different rules, different rewrites.

Different writing domains have different conventions. An academic paper is not a blog post is not a sermon is not a clinical note. A single rewrite strategy applied across all of them produces tonal mismatch — legal text that reads conversational, marketing copy that hedges into uselessness, pastoral writing stripped of warmth.

Inksong supports six domain presets. Each one changes both the prompt strategy and the lexical constraints we pass to Claude, so the rewrite respects the genre you're writing in rather than smoothing everything toward a single neutral register.

How it works

What's happening under the hood

Academicpreserves hedging and qualification. If your draft says “the data may suggest,” we don't flatten that into “the data shows.” Citations and qualifier phrases stay intact; sentences are allowed to run long where the argument needs them to. The lexicon is tilted toward latinate and precise.

Legalpreserves precision above all. Term-of-art language — “reasonable,” “material,” “notwithstanding” — is treated as load-bearing and not paraphrased. Pastoralwarms the register, allows for direct address, and keeps the cadence suited to spoken delivery. Marketing tightens sentences, leans on active verbs, and removes hedges so the copy converts.

Medicalrespects clinical terminology — ICD descriptors, pharmacological names, anatomical references are preserved verbatim. Surrounding prose can be humanized; the technical content cannot. Technical (engineering, software, scientific writing) keeps jargon intact and protects code-like terms from being rewritten into casual language.

Behind the scenes the domain selector switches two things: the system prompt that frames the rewrite (what to preserve, what to relax), and the lexicon constraints that bound the vocabulary the model is allowed to substitute into. Combined with the tone selector and the humanness slider, the domain preset is the most important knob for getting output that fits the writing you actually do.

Recent studies have demonstrated that the implementation of cognitive behavioral interventions in adolescent populations produces statistically significant reductions in self-reported anxiety symptoms. The mechanism by which these reductions occur remains the subject of ongoing investigation, though current evidence supports a role for cognitive restructuring as the primary mediating variable.

Recent work suggests that cognitive behavioral interventions, when applied in adolescent populations, may produce measurable reductions in self-reported anxiety. The underlying mechanism is still under investigation. Current evidence appears to favor cognitive restructuring as the primary mediating variable, though the literature on this point is not yet settled.

Benefits

Why this matters

No tonal mismatch

Academic stays academic. Marketing stays marketing. You don't have to rewrite the output to fit the genre.

Domain vocabulary preserved

Terms of art, clinical names, and load-bearing jargon survive the rewrite instead of getting paraphrased into something looser.

A single tool across writing types

Switch the domain selector instead of switching products. The same Inksong account handles your essays, your client work, and your sermon drafts.
