Inksong vs Quillbot

A factual, side-by-side comparison. We try to be honest about where Quillbot wins.

TL;DR
Quillbot is a capable paraphraser and grammar checker. That's a different job than document-level AI humanization with voice cloning and format preservation. For most users they're complementary tools, not substitutes.

Where Inksong wins

Voice cloning

Inksong extracts n-gram, sentence-length, burstiness, vocabulary and hedging signals from a sample of your writing and passes them as a style guide to Claude. Quillbot has no equivalent.

End-to-end DOCX and PDF roundtrip

Upload a DOCX and get back a DOCX with formatting intact. Upload a PDF and get a DOCX out. Quillbot is paste-oriented in the browser.

Batch processing and a REST API

Process up to 10 documents at once, or integrate Inksong into your own pipeline through the API. Quillbot does not publish a humanization API for self-serve use.

NGN local pricing

We bill in Naira through Paystack for African customers, which avoids FX markup. Quillbot charges in USD only.

Domain awareness across 6 writing types

Academic, legal, pastoral, medical, marketing and technical domains each shift the rewrite. Quillbot’s writing modes (standard, formal, simple, creative) are stylistic, not domain-aware.

Where Quillbot wins

Brand recognition and existing user base

Quillbot has been around for years and is many writers’ default paraphraser. If your team already pays for it, that’s a real workflow advantage.

Browser, Word and Docs extensions

Quillbot ships add-ins for Word, Google Docs and the browser. Inksong is a web app and an API — we don’t ship editor extensions today.

Grammar and spell-check

Quillbot’s grammar checker is a separate, mature product. Inksong does not check grammar or spelling — that’s out of scope for us.

Built-in summarizer and citation generator

Quillbot bundles a summarizer and a citation generator in the same suite. Useful for students and researchers; not something we offer.

Our recommendation

If the task is “fix a sentence, paraphrase a paragraph, check grammar,” Quillbot is built for that workflow and you’ll be happier there. Their browser and Word extensions mean you barely have to leave your document.

If the task is “humanize a 5,000-word document in my voice with DOCX formatting preserved,” that’s what Inksong is built for. The two tools are complementary — plenty of users will draft in Quillbot for sentence-level edits and run Inksong on the finished document.
